Whats the challenge

Advancing conservation across Zimbadwe, using education,
research and anti poaching programmes. Poaching, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict are having a devastating impact on Zimbabwe's wildlife. Finding space for both people and wildlife to co-exist is the ultimate conservation challenge

Our Solutions

Kariba works with its project partners to find sustainable solutions to preserve critical habitats, protect endangered species, combat the illegal wildlife trade, empower local communities and promote environmental education.

THe Challenges

Poaching in Zimbabwe devastates both communities and animal welfare. The illegal hunting of wildlife depletes animal populations, disrupting ecosystems and threatening biodiversity. Local communities, often reliant on wildlife tourism for their livelihoods, suffer economically. Additionally, poaching creates insecurity and conflicts, further destabilizing these regions. The loss of key species also undermines conservation efforts, making it harder to protect and sustain Zimbabwe's natural heritage. Addressing poaching is essential for the well-being of both animals and people, fostering a more stable and prosperous future for all.

We Make The Difference

For the past ten years, Kariba Conservation has supported innovative and successful conservation efforts in Africa. Concentrating on the area around Gwia in Zimbabwe, we are dedicated to a future where both people and wildlife can flourish.

Poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict are severely impacting Africa’s wildlife. We believe local communities and organizations are best equipped to address these challenges, yet they often lack resources and recognition. By partnering with leading and emerging conservationists across Africa, Kariba Conservation secures donor funding to invest in the most effective grassroots conservation initiatives, helping to increase their visibility and maximize their impact.

We collaborate with successful local organizations, fostering and supporting African leadership, and nurturing their conservation programs to grow from innovative ideas into scalable solutions.

Strategic conservation can empower local communities and enhance livelihoods. We support and promote effective environmental education aimed at providing a more sustainable future for the next generation.

This approach has proven effective. Through our partnerships, we have witnessed significant progress, providing greater protection for over 700,000 hectares of land and more than 40 different species, while benefiting thousands of local people.

At Kariba Conservation, we build lasting relationships with our donors and aim to invest in long-term solutions because sustainable conservation requires sustained funding.

With your generous support, Kariba Conservation can and will continue to make a positive impact in Africa.
